I’m sure you have all been carefully following the FSMA rulings. The FDA is looking to transform the nation’s food safety system to target the prevention of foodborne illness. As the leading software provider to the food distribution community, you can be rest assured that NECS is on top of it.

The final FSMA ruling impacts all companies that manufacture, process, pack, or hold foods on the Food Traceability List (FTL), maintain records containing Key Data Elements (KDEs) associated with specific Critical Tracking Events (CTEs); and provide information to the FDA within 24 hours or within some reasonable time to which the FDA has agreed.

Using paper and pencil for compliance is next to impossible even for the smallest of distributors. This means that you will need a current release of entrée in addition to our Warehouse Management System (entrée.WMS) and Proof of Delivery (entrée.POD). These additional solutions will require investment in software, hardware (scanning units, printers, etc…) as well as the installation of a suitable wireless backbone in the warehouse.

Compliance with FSMA is mandatory by January 1, 2026. Operational and software changes are required by many of our partners. NOW is the time to discuss with NECS!!

While compliance will involve investment, WMS and POD are both proven to bring sizable ROI. They will streamline operations through automation (reduce labor, increase throughput), improve visibility, manage product rotation to decrease expiry, improve warehouse utilization, reduce DSO, drastically reduce mispicks and transportation errors, reduce recall liability and improve customer service.
